Split with HELL

maxlikesound At first, I was a bit disapointed with this split. I consider Hell and Primitive Man to be two of the most punishing bands in doom metal, and I was hoping this would be a contest of sheer crushing misanthropy. Hell's song was not anywhere near the standard of heaviness the band has set for itself, and it really didn't compare in that regard to Primitive Man's songs. I gave it some time, and I actually really love Hell's contribution now. It's more groovy and trad-doomy than his other stuff. Favorite track: Hell - Nuumen.

Nihilist Prayer How do you describe a contender for EP of the year 2019? By playing this one over and over again. In terms of extreme metal, very little competition to challenge this darkened jewel for that title. Favorite track: Primitive Man - Oily Tears.
FLESH MECHANIC

FLESH MECHANIC The Hell song is of course quite a killer blackened Sabbath-like riff fest, but Primitive Man is the main reason I'm here, as I think those guys are the heaviest band in the galaxy, and they prove it once again on this split. Quite honestly, the middle part of Pitiful & Loathsome is the definition of how heavy music can get. Combine that with their everpresent feel of nihilism and filth, and you've got yourself an album perfect for sunny summer days spent neck-deep in a tar pit. Favorite track: Primitive Man - Pitiful & Loathsome.
Sonny92

Sonny92 These two bands were definitely made for each other. Primitive Man are up first with a couple of tracks of angsty, crawling sludge that is punctuated by moments of accelerated violence. Hell turn in a great nine minute track of, for them, fairly orthodox, but still evil-sounding, ultra-heavy doom, proving themselves once again to be one of the best extreme doom bands around at the moment. Not a split for the faint-hearted. Favorite track: Hell - Nuumen.
